Compact portable gramophone
In a small wooden case, covered with bordeaux red leatherette and leather carrying handle. The hexagonal cardboard horn with nickel plated support can be folded and stored in the lid.
All other parts can be stored in the case.
The record is screwed on the little turntable.
The reproducer ("sound box") has a mica diaphragm. The first models had an octagonal reproducer. The unit shown here (with a round reproducer) was made specially for the bookstore of W.H. Smith & Son, Paris.
The gramophone was made in France. They were also manufactured under licence in Switzerland and in the United States (as "Min-U-Phone").
It was made in a number of colours: blue, bordeaux red, green, black and tobacco.
