Videoton was founded in 1938 in  Székesfehérvár. In the period before World War II, the company made equipment for the army, later - during the war - for the Germans. After the war Videoton made electronic equipment for the Hungarian army as well as for other armies within the Eastern bloc. It lasted some time before Videoton made its first consumer electronics. The first radio was made in 1955; the first television sets appeared in 1959. The company still exists, using the name Videoton Rendszertechnika Ltd. The company now focuses on industrial technology.
